Helen is the National Marine Facilities Head of Scientific Engineering, at the National Oceanography Centre. She is responsible for the operation and development of the National Marine Equipment Pool, the technicians supporting the delivery of the research expedition programme, and co-author of the Technology Roadmap. Her background is in systems and design engineering, with 3 years in the commercial design and manufacturing sector, and 12 years as marine engineer in the Royal Navy
