Technical Project Advisor
Wai Kwong Chan has over 40 years of experience in all aspects of the Liquified Natural Gas (LNG) supply chain and newbuild ship projects. He has lived and worked in 7 different countries, including South Korea, one of the world’s largest shipbuilding nations.
He obtained his BTEC HND in Marine Engineering and completed his cadetship at South Shields Marine & Technical College. He gained hands-on experience sailing on LNG Carriers, rising to the rank of Chief Engineer Officer over the span of 14 years.
Once ashore, he took on roles as an Engineer Superintendent in charge of the technical management of bulk carriers, chemical tankers and LNG carriers. He also served as Marine Manager Advisor where he established a private LNG port by executing material contracts for marine services and drafting port operating procedures.
His more recent roles include Site Commissioning Manager, Charterer’s Project and Site Manager and Charterer’s Technical Representative, where he oversaw new build LNG Carriers, LNG Bunker Vessels, LNG Bunker Barges, Suezmax Crude Oil Shuttle Tankers with Dynamic Positioning and Dual Fueled Very Large Crude Oil Carriers.
He is currently Technical Project Advisor with a major energy company.
