In this webinar, Rob Loder explains how human factors can support the analysis of and prevention of maintenance and machinery incidents. Rob covers the role of the Marine Accident Investigation Branch (MAIB), machinery accidents and human aspects of safety.

About the Speaker

Rob Loder is a Principal Inspector with the Marine Accident Investigation Branch (MAIB). After training in engineering ashore, Rob joined the Merchant Navy and served as an AB and motorman while training under the supplementary ratings training scheme. After qualifying, he was promoted to Engineer Officer and served on oil tankers, cable ships, ferries and superyachts and attained the rank of Chief Engineer.

Rob moved into ship management and then into ship repair, new build supervision and project management. After a period of consultancy to the marine industry, Rob joined the MAIB as an Engineering Inspector and currently serves as a Principal Inspector managing a team of investigators.
