WEBINAR: Finding shipwrecks in the 21st century – using open data and 3D photogrammetry
There are more than a thousand shipwrecks in Western Australia – but only 300 have ever been found. This webinar looks at the discovery of several historic wrecks, made through systematic review of seafloor data and historical records.
The speaker demonstrates the underwater photogrammetry techniques that have been used to model dozens of wreck sites in challenging conditions, and discuss how this new information is being mobilised to protect and understand these significant archaeological sites.
About the Speaker

He is an expert in underwater photogrammetry, which he has used to record more than 20 shipwrecks, including of the oldest wreck in Australia, Trial (1622), and the VOC ship Zeewijk (1727).
