Thames Estuary Partnership becomes first NGO Partner of the IMarEST

The IMarEST is delighted to announce its NGO Partnership with Thames Estuary Partnership, an independent charity which exists to improve shared understanding of the river's needs amongst key stakeholders. It brings together port and local authorities, riverside developers, leisure users, charities and other user groups and agencies to maximise the social, economic and environmental benefits for the tidal Thames.

The Thames Estuary Partnership region runs through the most densely populated city in Europe and some of the UK's most extensive marine and coastal protected areas. The Partnership both provides a forum for debate in its regular networking events and action groups, but also independently runs projects to support stakeholders on corporate social responsibility-related issues.

The IMarEST’s NGO Partnership scheme is open to all non-governmental organisations operating in the marine science and conservation sector and supports capacity building and professional development through access to complimentary membership benefits, knowledge-sharing, online promotion and free membership for volunteers. They are designed to help support the work of NGOs to positively contribute towards the delivery of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (in particular SDG14 Life Below Water).
