IMarEST gives back to the seafarer community with special membership fees
The Institute of Marine Engineering, Science & Technology (IMarEST) today celebrates international Day of the Seafarer by announcing a special membership rate for those employed at sea.
Susan Foster, Membership and Professional Services Director at the IMarEST, said: “We’d like to wish all our members and the wider marine industry our best regards on the Day of the Seafarer; we salute the essential work of seafarers and support their safety.
“Here at the IMarEST we’re delighted to give back to our wonderful seafarer community by announcing a special membership rate. We hope this will support those employed at sea with access to our important member benefits at a reduced cost. This is an exciting new initiative at the IMarEST and we’re looking forward to welcoming new members to our thriving marine community.”
The Day of the Seafarer is an annual celebration organised by the International Maritime Organization (IMO) in recognition of the contribution that two million seafarers make to our everyday lives, in that they operate the ships that carry more than 90% of the volume of world trade. With a mission to connect marine professionals across the globe, the IMarEST’s engagement with international organisations like the IMO underscores its commitment to driving positive change in the marine industry and beyond.
From 1 October 2024, the IMarEST will offer a reduced rate across all its membership grades for those employed at sea. This applies to existing members at renewal time, and new Institute applicants. Further information on reduced fees will be published on the IMarEST website soon.
