The Future of Maintenance Strategies on Board Marine and Offshore Units

On 30th May 2024, members of the Singapore Joint Branch of RINA and IMarEST attended a technical talk titled "The Future of Maintenance Strategies on Board Marine and Offshore Units" at Singapore Polytechnic. The presentation was delivered by Bart Brinckman (I-Care Group) and Christophe Semaille (Vertical Velocity Ventures Pte. Ltd.).

This presentation explored the evolving landscape of maintenance strategies for marine and offshore units, focusing on current Condition Based Monitoring (CBM) and Predictive Maintenance (PDM) techniques. The speakers highlighted the benefits of these methods and discussed how artificial intelligence (AI) can further enhance their effectiveness in the future. Additionally, the speakers examined emerging class notations such as "Smart Ships" and" partly autonomous sailing," and their implications for class societies and flag state authorities.

The event was well attended and followed by a cozy networking session over local refreshments from Old Chang Kee.
