Atlantic and Peninsula Australia renews membership with the IMarEST

Atlantic and Peninsula Australia (A&P) have renewed their Marine Membership with the IMarEST in continued efforts to support marine professionals in their career development.

A&P Australia is part of Atlantic & Peninsula Marine Services Ltd, one of the UK’s most prominent ship repair, conversion and marine companies. A&P Australia has maintained HMAS Choules since the Australian Government acquired the vessel in October 2011.

The company specialises in marine platform through-life and in-service support as well as planning, managing and supervising ship repair and engineering activities and the facilitation of ship’s company training. The Marine Membership sees several A&P staff enrolled as members of the IMarEST where they can work towards professional registration (up to Chartered status) demonstrating their occupational competence within the industry.

Scott Willey, Managing Director of Atlantic and Peninsula Australia, said: “We currently have 25 employees advancing their membership with the IMarEST from Affiliate through to Fellow. A&P Australia’s partnership with the IMarEST is really important, as it provides an accredited framework for the continuous professional development of our project managers and engineers. Investing in the next generation of engineers is not only vital for our business but will also help secure the future of Australia’s shipbuilding capability.”

Members of the IMarEST work closely with the Institute to promote professional registration and membership, continuing professional development, knowledge sharing and learning opportunities within their organisations and the wider marine community. Partners are also offered global industry networking opportunities and discounts on international events and training amongst other benefits.
