Wightlink’s flagship, Victoria of Wight, carried her first passengers on the 26th august 2018.

Powered by hybrid energy, using a combination of batteries and conventional engines, she arrived on the Solent promising greater comfort, as well as being quieter and having lower emissions than similar vessels.

This presentation will uncover the details of the hybrid energy propulsion system, from how the initial concept came to be, through to the continued improvements of today.
