The development of production of Oil & Gas in marginal fields often does not satisfy the investment requirements to produce the field with standard FSO & FPSO’s or to run long subsea pipelines.
This means that the production development of the field is not commercially viable based on the amount of produced oil and based on the expected production life of the field.
This ranges on average between 5,000 to 10,000 bbls of oil per day for 2-3 years.
In order to produce such fields safely and commercially efficiently a different approach is required, one solution is the Versatile Mooring System or VMS.
