About the lecture:
Large motor yachts occupy an unusual space in the Naval Architecture world. Their owners demand a mix of operability, opulence, and originality and hence their designs continually push the boundaries and require fresh thinking. The stability of these vessels is particularly interesting because of the goal of large open arrangements, novel design features and openings close to the waterline. 2024 saw the introduction of the new Red Ensign Group Yacht Code and, with it, the implementation of some new stability requirements. This presentation will focus on those changes, how designers can ensure a compliant design and how Masters can understand the stability booklet.
