The UK Polar Network (UKPN) was established in April 2007 as part of the International Polar Year (2007-2009). We are the UK branch of the Association of Polar Early Career Scientists (APECS) and have over 550 Members. We organise and facilitate educational programmes such as our Antarctic Flags initiative and Polar Pen Pals, as well as deliver outreach at science festivals across the UK (e.g. Cheltenham, Cardiff, etc.). UKPN also delivers key training programmes for early career researchers, notably the Clean Planet Peninsula UK-based polar fieldwork training course in 2023 and our upcoming networking and training event onboard the RRS Sir David Attenborough in October 2024. We also play a big part in the annual Polar Pride initiative and other EDI programmes in polar science. If you want to find out more, please check out this webinar!
