Principal Inspector of Marine Accidents, Marine Accident Investigation Branch
After training in engineering ashore I joined the merchant navy and served as an AB and motorman while training under the supplementary ratings training scheme. After qualifying I was promoted to engineer officer and served on oil tankers, cable ships, ferries and superyachts and attained the rank of chief engineer. I moved into ship management and then into ship repair, new build supervision and project management. After a period of consultancy to the marine industry I joined the Marine Accident Investigation Branch as an engineering inspector and currently serve as a Principal inspector managing a team of investigators.
I am a chartered engineer and marine engineer and am a fellow of IMarEST
