Background:

Johnathan is a research associate for Defence and Military Analysis, at the International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS).

Johnathan is the team leader for the maritime team for the Institute’s Defence and Military Analysis Programme. He coordinates the collection of maritime equipment and personnel data for The Military Balance, Military Balance+ and other IISS publications.

He regularly contributes to conference and workshop activities within the maritime sphere, and has recently led projects on Arctic security dynamics, critical maritime infrastructure and uninhabited maritime vehicles.
