Charles Blyth

Risk, Safety and Training Lead, The National Federation of Fishermen's Organisations (NFFO)

Charles has spent his life on the water. After experiencing life-changing events during his time as a semi-professional white-water kayaker, a passion for improving safety on the water was born.

He went on to complete a degree at Plymouth University and gain a position on a graduate scheme with the Maritime and Coastguard Agency as a ship surveyor.

As well as setting up his own maritime consultancy providing services primarily to the fishing industry, his work with NFFO now ranges from engaging and assisting in the development of policy at a national and international level to providing direct assistance to fishing companies focussing on risk and safety management.

Charles is also member of the FISH Platform, a group of fishing health and safety experts from around the world with a core purpose of improving safety, living and working conditions within the Global fishing fleet.
