Fleet New Build Director, Bibby Marine

Gavin Forward is a Chartered Naval Architect with over 14 years of experience in the maritime industry, graduating from the University of Strathclyde with a Master's Degree in 2010. His career began in the oil and gas sector in Aberdeen, working for a major service provider, where he played an integral part in the design and build of world-leading DP3 saturation diving support vessels, pipelay vessels, and construction vessels.
Gavin also managed several significant conversion and retrofit projects, including the integration of LNG reliquefication systems for LNG tankers, heavy lift crane upgrade projects, and battery hybrid system retrofits. Over his career, he has held various roles, including positions at a UK design consultancy and a UK shipyard. He has had the opportunity to work globally on different projects, both onshore and offshore, and lived in Norway for a period. His passion for decarbonizing the maritime sector, combined with his expertise in battery hybrid conversions, has driven him to his current role as Fleet New Build Director at Bibby Marine. In this role, Gavin is leading the charge in pioneering the construction of the world’s first truly zero-emission Service Operation Vessel (SOV) for the offshore wind market.
